On March 15, Austria’s Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a space capsule from an altitude of approximately 71,580 feet as the Red Bull Stratos project moved forward into the manned flight stage in New Mexico. The 42 year-old rode the space capsule attached to a giant helium balloon above the so-called Armstrong Line. The goal of the Red Bull Stratos project is to see Baumgartner attempt a record-breaking freefall from 120,000 feet this summer, where he’ll potentially become the first man to go supersonic without the support of a vehicle.

DDB Brazil’s ad campaign for theMASP Art School in Sao Paulo recently received a lot of publicity for spreading out what looks like the dissected bodies of famous artists with their insides done in the style of their art.

This playful yet lovely series of paintings by Brooklyn-based artist Jason Bard Yarmosky will put a smile on your face. In this series, Elderly Kinder, he plays with the idea of still being a kid even when we’ve become old and wrinkly. From his grandma dressed as Wonder Woman, to a couple shot in which the grandpa is a boxer with his bunny lady on his side, these oil paintings are truly cute.

With over 34 million views on YouTube in less than a month, this video has become a huge success. To launch the high quality TV channel, TNT, in Belgium, they placed a big red push button on an average Flemish square of an average Flemish town. In her latest body of work, multi-media artist Siolo Thompson takes on the anxiety of our uncertain political, economic and environmental future and the impact our mistakes and the mistakes of those before us will have on the next generation.

This collection of paintings features several large scale portraits that depict children on the cusp of adulthood posed as kings or queens and they ask us to consider the flawed kingdom that these young people stand to inherit. Through the lens of these paintings Ms. Thompson, examines the fact that we live in a time when our country teeters on the edge of economic disaster, warmongering politicians preach a gospel of intolerance and hate and our planet is poisoned and getting worse. There is no calm certainty in the future of these little kings, their future is as delicate and transient as their own youthful beauty.

I love the intervention of Mathieu Lehanneur on the St. Hilaire church in France. In many ways, this is a paradoxical project as most of the design doesn’t sit well with the faith of the environment. But Lehanneur manages to insert clever mineral architecture in reference to the topology of the place regardless. Sublime!
