Ooh, this is great. In response to the way everyone taps away on their phones even when they’re in human company, designers Chelsea Briganti, Leigh Ann Tucker and Ingrid Zweifel from Manhattan-based studio The Way We See the World have introduced Blokket, a pouch thoughtfully made from a silver and nylon material that blocks cellular signals once you slip your cellphone in.

There are two options to choose from, but we think the one that says ‘Goodbye Phone, Hello World’ has a really nice ring to it.

That includes a flask. That’s right — if you pledge $29 towards their Kickstarter fund, you’ll get to snare a pair of Speakeasy Briefs and a flask and (to quote these guys) “bring the party to your pecker”.

Literally packed in manly crates too (no frilly ribbons or wrapping paper), these gifts are themed according to what kind of man he is: carnivore, survivalist, beer lover, snack enthusiast, gamer or athlete. The Grill Master Crate, for instance, comes with a cast-iron smoker box, hickory wood chips, steak thermometers and a brass-knuckle meat tenderizer. Pretty impressive stuff.

This clever little device will haunt their office or dorm room without leaving a trace. It’s a tiny little magnetic thing that will stick to any metal surface and emit unsettling creaking noises, scratching sounds, gasping breaths, and eerie whispering every six minutes. Seriously, this is the best idea since sliced bread. And it’s only 17 bucks.

Hong Kong-based designers David Koo and Zheng Yawei came up with this astonishing concept design for a couch that we can only dream about for now. Yes, it’s a levitating couch that makes use of magnetic force from the bottom base to stay afloat. And it looks like a cloud.

Their design nabbed an honourable mention in Yanko Design’s RELAX 2009 competition. If this isn’t magical, we don’t know what is. This. Needs. To. Be. Real. Now.

The proof that only the most disturbing designs are selected for this magazine? Either way, this is a magazine that literally does not let go.

For those of you who love well designed furniture but don’t want to be tied down with lots of stuff, this nomadic furniture series will be right up your alley. You’ve seen the old movies where Victorian-era people travel with huge, clunky trunks. Well, imagine those same traveling trunks except they also unfold to be furniture. Thanks to André Pedrini and Ricardo Freisleben of Oboio Design Studion in Brazil, moving is a snap: everything is already packed away in a trunk. All you have to do is fold it up and head out to your next adventure.

Steven Harrington, Jeff Staple, Case Studyo, Darcel Dissapoints, Kelsey Brooks and Aaron De La Cruz, to name a few. It is beautifully designed in Denmark and is created in limited quantities that sell out fast. Looks like there are only a few copies left of Issue #04.

Although some see his work as a reaction to today’s throwaway society, he sees it as a way to reconnect with the past. ‘I cherish traditions, not trends. I love the old ways of doing things, old tools and traditional techniques.’ He says working with one’s hands still has value and while there is a rich tradition of these mechanisms, it is soon becoming a lost art in the wake of the digital age. I hear that.

The smaller the block, the better the detail. This is the very true catchphrase of Japanese invention Nanoblock, a range of puzzles which are pretty much the most fun you can have at your office desk without getting fired. Yes, the small and challenging building blocks will satisfy anyone who is a child at heart or loves a challenge during their coffee break. The best bit is the number of different creations that can be made: deer, frogs, electric guitars and even the Taj Mahal. They’re so addictive I could cover my desk in them. Lucky they are fairly inexpensive. I don’t want to go broke. [Follow me on Twitter @cormy96]
