The good news we’ve all been waiting for.
A team of scientists in Israel claim they’ll have a cure for cancer ready by next year, the Jerusalem Post reported on Monday.
The treatment, called MuTaTo (multi-target toxin), will use a combination of cancer-targeting peptides and a toxin that will specifically kill cancer cells. Each patient will get a personalised treatment, and will receive a specific drug cocktail to complete the process.
The cure will reportedly be brief, cheap, effective, and will have minimal side effects.
“We believe we will offer in a year’s time a complete cure for cancer,” said Dan Aridor of Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies (AEBi), the firm researching on the treatment.
“Our cancer cure will be effective from day one, will last a duration of a few weeks and will have no or minimal side-effects at a much lower cost than most other treatments on the market.”
According to AEBi CEO, Dr Ilan Morad, they’ve already concluded their first exploratory mice experiment with promising results. Tests showed that the treatment inhibited human cancer cell growth and had no effect at all on healthy mice cells.
AEBi hopes to start clinical trials soon before making treatment available for specific cases.
Hopefully, this won’t be one of those too-good-to-be-true cases. With an estimated 17 million new cancer cases and 9.5 million cancer deaths worldwide in 2018, this is a piece of news we’re praying won’t turn out to be fake.
