Dua Lipa subtly calls out Grammys president for sexism in award acceptance speech

Women in the music industry had a big night yesterday at the 61st GRAMMY Awards.

Dua Lipa was one of the women that won big as she was awarded the ‘Best New Artist’ as well as ‘Best Dance Recording’ for the track Electricity.

Last years Grammys caused controversy after only one solo female artist, Alessia Cara, took home an award and the president responded by saying that women should “step up” if they want to win more awards.

The singer used her acceptance speech for ‘Best New Artist’ to call out the Grammy’s president, Neil Portnow, for the sexist comments he made last year.

She even had her speech cut short as the music started playing while she was in the middle of thanking her family.
