On January 25th a mining dam in Minas Gerais, Brazil collapsed causing a surge of mud to swallow neighbouring buildings around the mine.
The tragic event claimed the lives of over 100 people and over 200 people are still missing.
New video footage shows the exact moment the dam collapsed, sending a wall of mud sliding down the hill, travelling almost like lava.
This isn’t the first damn owned by the mining company, Vale SA, to collapse and although they had installed an alarm to warn residents of a potential dam breakage, the alarm, unfortunately, did not go off.
The exact cause of the dam collapse has yet to be found but officials have begun investigations.
