Some say they’re making a big deal out of a small issue. *wink wink*
The US Marine Corps is investigating one of its pilots for supposedly drawing a penis in the sky.
Aircraft Spots, a Twitter account dedicated to tracking military flights, had noticed that a Marine plane flew in an unusual flight path over the Salton Sea, near Palm Springs in California.
Instead of being the usual straight line, the flight pattern – which is invisible on a flight tracker – has two loops, a long shaft and a line coming out of the shaft.
“Somebody needs to have a word” with the pilot, the account joked.

Major Josef Patterson told the Marine Corps Times that the aircraft belonged to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101.
He did not say whether the pilot was an instructor or in training, but did say that the incident is under investigation.
“Obscene or inappropriate actions, flight or not, do not reflect the core values we hold as Marines,” he said.
This isn’t the first time military personnel have been involved in airborne phallic symbols (and it probably won’t be the last).
Last year, Navy officials confirmed that one of their aircraft had drawn a penis pattern visible from the ground.
