Huge ’90s throwback music tour ‘So Pop’ to hit Australia early 2019

Now is the time for me to admit that the first concert I ever attended was S Club 7’s reunion tour. I bought merch and thumped my chest as they ‘showed me their colours’, and was only a tad disappointed when S Club 7 turned out to be S Club 3.

The thing is, throwbacks to the tunes of your youth almost always get you up and dancing. Before you know it you’re reminiscing about that golden age when you wore butterfly clips at a ratio of 10:1 (1 representing an individual strand of your hair).

If you grew up in the nineties and aren’t shy about recollecting the tracks that you grew up with, then you’ll definitely want to check out the ultimate throwback music event coming to Australia soon. The So Pop concert series has a line-up that will have you bursting to unleash your inner Macarena.

Headlining the tour are ’90s favourites: Aqua and Vengaboys. Don’t worry, Barbie Girl and The Vengabus will certainly be making an appearance.

The tour will hit most major Aussie cities — Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane — across January and February of 2019.

Also in the mix are Mambo No. 5’s Lou Bega, Irish girl group B*Witched (I did a double-take — can I get a Ce La Vie?!), and boy-band, Blue.

For added nostalgia points, So Pop will be hosted Ryan Lappen and Jade Gatt — the original hosts of Cheez TV.

All ’90s paraphernalia will be accepted, and most likely encouraged. I knew it was only a matter of time before I could dust off my Sailor Moon outfit… I might even resurrect the old Tamagotchi.

We’ve collected all the dates and significant details for your convenience below (after a little B*Witched interlude):
