Abandon ship! Whale breaches dangerously close to boat full of tourists

I guess you could say it made a splash with the visitors.

This past week in Gustavus, Alaska, a group of tourists were out whale watching when a humpback whale gave them more than what they bargained for – by breaching close to their boat, and drenching them in the process.

A video posted on YouTube by Tristan Krause shows a calm sea with a glimpse of a splash in the distance. When suddenly, the camera pans left and a whale emerges from the water, leaping high up into the air before going back into the water.

Its breach is so close to the boat that it sends a massive wave towards the whale watchers.

Although initially shocked by such an up-close encounter, the tourists quickly laughed it off, suggesting that they did have a whale of a time.
