Watch: ant trying desperately to steal a diamond

We’ve all seen the Italian Job, now take a look at the Itali-ant Job.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a daring ant can be seen trying to make away with a diamond from a jewelry store. But despite its efforts, the insect ultimately fails to carry out the heist, only able to push the valuable stone a few feet.

It’s believed that the ant, which can carry many times its own body weight, must have thought the diamond was a grain of sugar.

On social media, where the video has been viewed more than 19,000 times, people are lauding the animal’s effort.

“Imagine explaining to your boss that an ant stole a diamond,” said one commenter, while another added: “I like how he keeps checking behind himself like he knows he’s being watched.”

It’s unknown if the ant faces criminal charges.
