Drop everything, the Summer Series lineup has been announced

It would appear that rumours regarding the death of the Aussie music festival were greatly exaggerated.

The latest addition to the local scene is Sydney Summer Series, set to be held in the Domain on January 12, and packing a lineup jammed with disco legends.

Headlining the event are none other than The Jacksons, featuring original members Jermaine Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jackie Jackson and Marlon Jackson.

More than just a vehicle for their uber-talented brother, the late Michael Jackson, The Jacksons have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and promise to bring a show big on energy and featuring “all the famous dance moves and costumes”.

Joining The Jacksons in the Domain are Kool & The Gang, promising to pack such hits as “Celebration”, “Cherish” and “Jungle Boogie”.

The Pointer Sisters are next on the bill, best known for such dance-floor fillers as “I’m So Excited“, “Jump (For My Love)“, “Neutron Dance” and “Fire“.

Village People will take to the stage fronted by founding member Victor Willis – who you likely know as being either the policeman or naval officer – so get your arms prepared to spell out “YMCA“, and have your feet ready to boogie to “In The Navy“, “Macho Man” and “Can’t Stop the Music“.

To add to the sibling vibe, Sister Sledge will have Kim and Debbie Sledge belting out such tunes as “He’s The Greatest Dancer and the unforgettable “We Are Family“.

Finally there’s Sounds of the Supremes – “the only group of their type legally endorsed by Motown” and featuring Kaaren Ragland, who was part of OG Supreme Mary Wilson’s group in the 1970s and ’80s.
