Gorillaz musician admits to leaving master copy of new album in London taxi

Leaving an umbrella in a taxi? Forgivable. Wallet? You’ll eventually get over it. New Gorillaz album? You’ve got to be kidding me.

This month it was reported that Damon Albarn, one half of the virtual English band Gorillaz, accidentally left the band’s new album in a taxi.

Albarn went out on the town one night recently, stopping by London’s members-only hotspot Groucho. After the evening was over, Albarn left the club in a taxi and forgot all about the laptop that had accompanied him that night.

That laptop contained the master copy of Gorillaz’s soon-to-be-released album.

“It was a disaster”, a source says. “Damon oversees everything and with Gorillaz, it’s not just audio — it’s the expensive visuals as well. The laptop’s contents are priceless.

“But after a night at Groucho, Damon accidentally left it in a cab and caused a huge panic.

“It’s a really personal project because the album is very politically charged. A lot of his opinions on Brexit filter through it”.

Lucky for Albarn (and the rest of us), the laptop was returned to him by the cabbie.

“It was a massive relief for everyone involved in the project”, the source says.

Don’t drink and laptop, people. Learn from Albarn — disastrous things can happen when you go on a bender carrying your laptop .

The new album is dropping soon, so keep up to date with all Gorillaz news on their website, and Facebook.
