Watch: KISS fan upstages the Foo Fighters with an epic performance

When Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl asked a fan dressed as Gene Simmons to perform with them, he sure did not expect the man to actually be as good as Gene Simmons.

But that’s what happened in the band’s concert last Wednesday in Austin, Texas. Grohl called up a random person to come on stage and jam with them. He referred to the man as ‘KISS Guy’, and let him borrow his guitar to play the 1997 hit Monkey Wrench.

“Don’t get too excited yet,” Grohl warned, unaware of the fan’s ability. “You might shit the bed in your hometown, brother.”

But he didn’t. Instead, KISS Guy wowed everyone by shredding the tune and even adding two impressive solos. Grohl was so surprised that he even forgot the lyrics halfway through the song!

SO EXCITED FOR @foofighters TONIGHT!!!!!!

After the performance, the Foo Fighter frontman assured the crowd that all of it was legit.

“Every time we get someone to come up and jam with us, people are like, ‘That was a setup’. We’ve never done a setup.”

The fan, later identified on Reddit as Yayo Sanchez, even got a compliment he’ll never forget.

“I swear to god, KISS Guy—he was the fucking best one we’ve ever had come up,” said Grohl. “Goddamn, KISS guy.”
