For some, simply running the infamous London Marathon isn’t enough.
To truly stand out, those people choose to run the 26.2-mile course in fancy dress.
Rob Pope was one of those who rose to the challenge, after being inspired by the 1994 film Forrest Gump.
Not only did Pope manage to achieve the incredible feat of running a marathon, his 2 hours 36 minute finishing time also broke the world record for the quickest marathon time of any runner dressed as a film star.
Speaking after the race, Pope noted the incredible support at the London marathon.
“Today was unbelievable.
“I had so many ‘Run Forrest run’ shouts – a couple of ‘beardy man’ and a couple ‘Jesus’ but mostly Forrest Gump!”

Obviously, 2.5 hours isn’t your average marathon time, and Pope is, in fact, an accomplished long-distance runner.
In 2016 the 39-year-old ran the official “Forrest Gump” route across the United States, racking up a total of 15,348 miles during his incredible journey.
If you’re feeling inspired, Rob’s running page is still open to donations.
