Meet the guy who knits sweaters of all the places he travels to

43-year-old Sam Barsky started knitting in 1999 upon leaving nursing school.

After buying wool at a fleamarket and convincing the sellers to teach him how to knit, Barksy took his hobby to new heights.

Years later — almost two decades — and Sam has hand-knitted 119 sweaters and boasts a lucrative career of traveling (to knitting stores) and appearing in ads.

Barsky’s first few sweaters were nature-related, but it was the famous landmarks that really revved up his knitting pace. Currently, Sam Barsky knits around one sweater each month!

“If I know my plans in advance I’ll knit a sweater and take it there,” he says.

In 19 years, this knitting pro has managed to create jumpers featuring the Golden Gate Bridge, the Dead Sea, the Hollywood sign, the Las Vegas strip, Hoover Dam, Colonial Williamsburg, the Western Wall, and even the Venice canals.

And he’s posed right in front of those landmarks for some pretty epic selfies.

Sam now has a following on Instagram and Facebook, as well as a section on his website for public appearances.

This guy is a hot commodity!

If you’re hoping to get your grubby little hands on one of these collector items, you’re out of luck. Barsky refuses to sell them. And why would he? Can you imagine pulling yourself away from these beauties?

You’ll just have to pick up some of Sam’s tips from his Facebook videos if you want to knit your very own power line sweater (yes, really).

My second tropics sweater. Did not make it to represent a specific place. But I was surprised to see how perfectly it matched Venice Beach, CA. #sambarsky #sambarskysweaters #sambarskyknitter #knit #knitting #knitter #sweater #tropics #tropic #tropical #palmtree #palmtrees #palmtree🌴 #beach #sand #ocean #venicebeach #venicebeachca #venicebeachcalifornia

This is my second Tower Bridge sweater. I made it because I had originally wanted the sky on my first one to have variegated yarn like that, but couldn't find any back then. #sambarsky #sambarskysweaters #sambarskyknitter #towerbridge #towerbridgelondon #london #tower #bridge #londonbridge #england #unitedkingdom #thames #thamesriver #toweroflondon
