The Swedish ending of ‘Finding Dory’ is hilariously NSFW

Movie translations can often be frustrating to bilingual viewers.

A lot of the time not only the text but the context of a scene or line is so lost in translation it makes no sense.

Some phrases can’t be translated at all, so they’re substituted, usually with something not quite as good as the original.

But there are also times when hilarity erupts because of the different meanings behind words and phrases in different languages.

Kids movies, particularly animated films, are often laced with adult innuendo and one-liner jokes to keep the adults watching just as entertained as the audience the movie is intended for.

When you combine movie translations and animated kids films you really wouldn’t expect too much trouble; considering the simple storyline and family-friendly G rating.

But sometimes semantics can offer the last laugh.

Twitter user Luke Mathews uploaded a video of the Swedish version of the film Finding Dory, via Netflix Sweden.

The clip, which has now gone viral, shows the final frames of the movie as it fades towards its heartwarming conclusion.

Yep, you read that right! Someone in the movie’s final scenes calls Dory a slut. No wait, In Swedish, they call Dory a slut. Um, isn’t Finding Dory a kid’s movie?

That would be a pretty funny ending to the film, and it’s not like Dory would remember it.

However, nobody actually called Dory a slut. There’s a pretty simple and G-rated answer to it all.

It’s another case of hilarious English/Swedish translation; in Swedish ‘slut’ means ‘the end’. Given the English meaning behind the word, you’d think that maybe the translator would have stuck with pretty universally known English ‘the end’ but nah.

Keepin it real.

There must be some pretty amused bilingual Swedish speaking kids.

Slut.
