Former porn star Mia Khalifa is blaming ISIS for her retirement

In a recent interview with her close friend Lance Armstrong, the sports anchor Mia Khalifa claimed her successful porn career came to end due to continuous death threats from ISIS.

“It all started to spiral out of control when the death threats from ISIS started coming in,” Khalifa said on Lance Armstrong’s podcast, The Forward.

“That’s when I stepped away.”

Lebanese born Khalifa was working in a Whataburger when she was approached by a customer who asked her if she’d considered working in pornographic films.

Within months the 22 year old History graduate became the most shared performer on popular adult site Pornhub, with more than 1.5 million views. In December 2014, Pornhub’s stats revealed she was the best ranked performer on their website.

The adult performer made international headlines after she made a pornographic clip wearing a hijab. The stunt proved too much for Islamic extremists who started reaching her through social media with bone chilling threats.

“They photoshopped a picture of me being beheaded and threatened that [it] would happen to me,” she told CSN show The Sports Junkies last year.

“I really try and just make it look like it rolls off, but I’ll admit, it gets to you after a while.” she said.

Armstrong advertises his podcast as all about “how we fuck up in life — either we fuck up ourselves or life fucks us up — and then we figure out a way to establish a base and move forward.”.

Of course, the retired athlete knows all about bad decisions. His use of performance enhancing drugs resulted in him being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and a permanent ban from competitive cycling.

Before the scandal, he was regarded by many as one of the greatest cyclists of all time.

The two found mutual ground through that regard, as Khalifa recalls her blazing career in porn.

“As soon as I started to gain popularity, that’s when I was like, ‘Get the fuck out of this’… this was not what I was trying to do whatsoever,” she told Armstrong.

“I just wanted to let loose and rebel a little bit. It didn’t validate me. Nothing like that ever does. That’s not what you should be doing to try and build your self-esteem.”

Link is in my bio!! Thank you to @lancearmstrong for letting me tell my story on his podcast. I talked my brief stint in the porn industry, death threats, family, dating, and moving FORWARD. In the words of Lance’s twitter bio: “There’s a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror”
