Disney’s smash hit film Frozen is getting a sequel, and the Director has basically said she wants Elsa to have a girlfriend!
There was a buzz of conversation surrounding the film Frozen when it was released. To put it bluntly, we were all wondering: Is Elsa a lesbian?
Well friends, the answer may be closer than you think.
According to an interview with Frozen’s director Jennifer Lee via HuffPost, the director has heard the internet’s cheer for pride.
Lee stated, “I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film ― that it’s creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people… It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations.”
The character’s iconic song “Let It Go” has become an anthem amongst the LGBTQ+ community, due to its themes of social pressure and feelings of entrapment as a result of bigotry:
“Conceal don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well now they know …
Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore…”
The song is a tribute to finding the courage to be yourself.
Of course, most of the internet is totally on board, with the Frozen sequel set to be released in 2019. And there has been a bunch of chat over on Twitter, avidly encouraging Disney’s first lesbian princess…
