The world’s shortest woman and the world’s tallest man met in Egypt last Friday for a photo shoot that has produced some of the best images you’ll see all year.
Jyoti Amge and Sultan Kosen have been brought together by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board to visit Cairo’s most famous sites in an effort to boost the country’s dwindling tourism.
The dynamic duo kicked off their tour at the Great Pyramid of Giza and wowed onlookers with their nearly 6-foot height difference, managing to outshine one of the seven wonders of the world.
At 2 feet 6 inches, Amge was named the world’s shortest person by the Guinness World Records in 2011 and has since worked as an actress – most notably as Ma Petite in American Horror Story: Freak Show.
The 24-year-old hails from Nagpur, India and has achondroplasia, which is a bone growth disorder that causes disproportionate dwarfism.
On the other end of the stick, 35-year-old Sultan Kosen holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s tallest person at just over 8 feet. His large stature is due to a condition called pituitary gigantism, which causes the over-production of growth hormones during childhood.
Kosen is one of only 10 people to have been recorded as over 8 feet and also holds the record for the world’s biggest hands.
But the Turkish man clearly keeps a strong sense of humour about his enormous achievements, describing benefits to the Guinness World Records site as “being able to help his mum out with jobs such as changing a broken light bulb and hanging curtains”.
The pair’s visit to Egypt comes after a series of appearances from other celebrities including Kourtney Kardashian and Will Smith.
