Guy poses for pregnancy photoshoot with his food baby

Pregnancy is a wonderful time in a couple’s life and although pregnancy photos are usually taken of the woman and her bump, this man came up with his own way to get in on the pregnancy action.

When Nick Roberts found out that he and his girlfriend were expecting, he stepped in with a McDonalds food baby to create some pre-paternity memories of his own.

He enlisted the help of his gym buddy, Stephen Coiwk, who happens to be a professional photographer, to take some artful pictures of his burgeoning belly.

The pair of men, who Roberts described as “the maternity men of our era”, embarked on a beautiful photographic project.

When not bloated from fast food, Roberts is somewhat of a weightlifter, who can bench 145 kg and he has definitely demonstrated the sort of resourcefulness and humour that will surely make him a truly great dad.

Roberts told Unilad that, “after finding out my girlfriend and I were pregnant, Stephen jokingly suggested that we do a photoshoot in the same style of a maternity shoot.

“After talking more about it, we decided that we should follow through with it, do the shoot and not tell my girlfriend. So, one day Stephen came to my house, picked me up, and off we were.”

The pair decided the best way to create a beautiful pregnant belly was to eat a whole lot of food.

“We went straight to McDonalds and ordered an absurd amount of food that I had to slam into my face hole. I had two McDoubles, a McChicken, a four-piece chicken nugget, two chocolate chip cookies, and a medium Dr Pepper.

“If I’m being completely honest, the awful cramps from the double cheeseburgers brought me so much closer to the pregnancy.

“Now, I’ll never know what being in labor feels like, but I feel in my heart it can’t be too far away from eating a lot of fast food. I’m truly blessed to have had this eye-opening experience.”

Coiwk decided that the location needed to be “a place that would truly capture the essence of a real maternity photo shoot”.

The two men came across a beautiful spot in the wilds of Massachusetts, which was unfortunately on someone’s private land. But the determined pair weren’t put off by the prospect of trespassing.

Though, if caught, surely Roberts could just blame pregnancy brain.

Hey guys. So my girlfriend and I found out we were going to have a baby. So my one day my buddy Stephen came to me with…

Nick said they “spent about two hours shooting. It was a difficult shoot to get done, due to the nonstop laughing and the fact that we were covered in ticks. [The shoot was] really tough to do because we could just not control ourselves.”

So, now that all the photographs have been taken, what do you do with the photos? Well, Coiwk made a photo album of all the photos, and strategically placed it by itself on a table at the couple’s gender reveal party.

“We put the album on a table where nobody was sitting, walked away, grabbed a beer, sat down and waited. The album didn’t go unnoticed for very long.

“The first unassuming person approached the book as Stephen and I sat in the distance and watched, waiting to see their reaction.

“It was everything we hoped it to be. As soon as they flipped the cover to the album, their head whipped back and hysterical laughter began! Not long after, people began to surround the table. Our mission was a success.”

In this day and age of gender equality, I’m sure women wouldn’t complain if men all of a sudden were able to join in on the swollen bodies, weird food cravings and the pain of childbirth.

After all, it seems only right that fathers get to share in every aspect of pregnancy.
