If you’re a Game Of Thrones lover, then get take inspo from this blogger and get thee to a plane, because you can actually visit the locations used in the show!
While Game Of Thrones relies heavily on CGI effects, some of the places used to bring King’s Landing to life are real-world locations you can hit up on your next trip.
Blogger Andrea David of Filmtourismus has visited places like Palácio de San Anton in Malta, Audley Castle in Northern Ireland and Trsteno Arboretum in Croatia, which have appeared in the popular show, and taken some pretty cool comparison photos.
David uploads the photos to her Instagram Filmtourismus, which features several other famous TV shoes and movies alongside Game Of Thrones.
“I love movies and travelling and love to connect one thing with the other,” said David.
“For more than 10 years, I have been travelling in the footsteps of interesting film locations around the world and collecting clues about what was shot where.
“As many as possible I would like to pass on to you, so that you – mentally or in reality – can also go on a movie trip. Although of course there are still several filming locations on my wish list.”
David used to work in a travel agency and also studied tourism, so there is no doubt that travel is something she is very experienced in.
“I was particularly fascinated by the different motives and longings people have for travelling to another place. So, after completing my studies, inspired by a trip to Scotland and the chance encounter with some well-known locations, I explored the influence of movies and TV shows on the choice of destination.
“With the surprising wealth of examples and as a great film fan, I quickly came to the taste, now and again targeted film locations to visit.”
It would be a complete understatement to say we’re a bit jealous of David.
