It’s going to be a long 2018 for Game of Thrones fans, actress Sophie Turner has confirmed.
As anyone who has ever seen a single episode of Game of Thrones will no doubt make you aware – it is the greatest TV show ever made. Fans are itching for the final season to hit their screens, but as Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, confirmed, they won’t be appeased until 2019.
The eighth and final season of the HBO favourite is one of the most anticipated seasons of television ever – with Turner suggesting its going to be just as emotional of a ride for the crew as it as for fans.
“When we all had the read-through for the final season, it was very, very emotional,” the actress said.
“For the first time in Thrones history, we had everyone there. All of the Americans wanted to come over. Every single cast member was pretty much there.”
The 21-year-old confirmed the 2019 release date in an interview with Variety who quizzed her about the final season.
“Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. We started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through. We’ve got six or seven months left,” she stated – leaving GoT fans wondering what on earth will keep them going in 2018.
The GoT post-production crew are hoping to have the final edit done early in 2019.
In a nice touch, Turner added that the cast is “trying not to take it for granted anymore” by spending extended time together during filming – going for meals and getting together more.
The end of an era is coming, but hopefully for GoT fans, the final winter will be worth the long wait.
