Leading Aussie journo makes disturbing allegations against Don Burke

In the wake of Don Burke denying several allegations of sexual harassment and indecent assault, even more women have accused the botanist of inappropriate sexual behaviour.

Journalist Amanda Pepe appeared on ABC’s 7:30 report last night, sharing her alleged experience with Burke in the late 1980s.

Burke appeared on Channel Nine’s A Current Affair the day earlier to deny the allegations made against him, maintaining he was “not that man”, and claiming “The Harvey Weinstein saga in Hollywood started a witch-hunt.”

Olympic Swimmer Susie O’Neill also joined the women speaking out against Don Burke, claiming he made “crude and belittling” comments towards her. The Olympic Gold Medalist said she felt disturbed by Burke’s denial on A Current Affair, sharing with Fairfax media an accusation of her own.

She claimed that when Burke came to her Brisbane home in 2000, he pointed to large flower painting created by her husband and asked: “Is your c*** as big as that?”.

O’Neill’s manager at the time said he addressed the comment with both Channel Nine and Burke, both of whom were “convincing in their denials”. Channel Nine claim they have no record of such a complaint, but are looking into it.

Don Burke “absolutely” denies the allegations made against him.
