AUSSIES: Aldi’s got a brand new $7 bottle of top-award winning grog

Listen up, you super classy/wanky oenophiles. We’ve got the word on the wines to get your grubby little paws on this silly season.

Never fear, you won’t be stretching your wallet too far. You’re more likely to be fetching some change from under your couch because the best Shiraz in the country has just been named, and it’s a bottle of $7 red straight from the shelf of our favourite German budget supermarket, Aldi.

Yep, Aldi’s One Road South Australian Heathcote Shiraz 2016 scored a gold medal at the 2017 Great Australian Shiraz challenge, and us cheapskates could not be happier.

The next gold medalist was not far behind, sitting at a RRP of $14.99, but what’s even better is that Aldi’s red scored higher than Bird in Hand 2013 MAC Shiraz which came in second, priced at $250 a bottle.

Check out the full list of wine winners here and get your wine-loving little selves down to your nearest Aldi, quicksmart.
