It seems not everything from childhood dies and if it does, it’s bound to be resurrected, thanks to the power of social media.
‘The Floor is Lava’ is the hottest trend (pun intended) on the internet, and it even comes in two forms: a challenge and a meme.
So what does the #TheFloorIsLavaChallenge entail exactly?
It’s much like the popular children’s game. When someone yells out “the floor is lava,” participants have five seconds to get off the floor. The call can be made at anytime, anywhere, so the results are often unfortunate and even more hilarious.
Here’s a sweet compilation showing people throwing themselves at grocery shelves, trees, and even other individuals.
Meanwhile, others are sharing memes. The concept basically involves replacing the metaphorical lava with things we hate and want to avoid. For instance, Twitter avoiding putting in an edit button.

Much like many other challenges and memes before it, ‘The Floor is Lava’ is bound to burn out at some stage, but until then, enjoy.
