Fitness trainer pens open letter to her “butt dimple”

Fitness blogger, trainer and social media influencer Victoria D’Ariano uses her Instagram to share her stories and vulnerabilities with “hopes to inspire, educate and allow others to gain confidence for who they are”.

People have penned open letters to many a thing. It’s not uncommon for people to share open letters to celebrities, government representatives and also fellow members of the public. However, it’s not often that you see someone sharing their thoughts in an open letter, to their butt dimple.

Recently, D’Ariana took to Instagram with a collage of photos showing her bum from different angles and in different lighting. But rather than sharing the photo to point out the effect of varying angles and lighting, D’Ariano posted the image with an open letter to her butt dimple – one of her major insecurities since it appeared at the age of 15.

“Dear Butt Dimple, I remember the first day you appeared. I was 15 years old. Since then you have had a hugely negative impact on my life. Since then you have made me feel less about myself. You not only made me feel fat, but also unworthy. You have always had an impact on what I chose to wear,” she wrote.

“I am writing you today to tell you I have finally stopped letting you win. You will no longer make me feel unworthy, not good enough or not in shape because of you. I will no longer be afraid to wear certain bathing suits or leggings because of you. I will no longer hide you. You are what you are and I have finally come to peace with that.”

After years of letting “something this superficial” impact her life, the trainer shares that she’s overcome the insecurity and encourages her followers to let go of theirs.
