Apparently, it isn’t uncommon for kangaroos to occasionally wander into water to cool off, but this poor little kangaroo was forced to stay in longer than he would have liked after he somehow managed to fall into a Bribie Island canal.
The Australia Zoo Rescue Unit was informed of the roo’s whereabouts and was sent to rescue the little guy.
Fortunately for this Queensland kangaroo, even though the water levels were rising due to the incoming tide, help was on its way.
With the rising water levels in mind, the rescue team acted fast. They were aware that the barnacles on the rocks could injure the kangaroo’s feet and they wanted to avoid that if at all possible.
Before long, the rescue team gently sedated the kangaroo to remove it from the canal. Once on dry land, the kangaroo’s paws were inspected for injuries but the rescue team concluded that a little disinfectant would do the trick. And when the sleepy roo woke up, he was able to happily hop away.
