Saturday night, London experienced a devastating event that took place on the London Bridge: three men in a van decided to drive into pedestrians on the bridge just before proceeding their terror by stabbing people in nearby bars and restaurants.
Sky News was able to capture footage of a man calmly walking among a crowd of panicked pedestrians, with a pint beer in hand. While this man’s peers were sprinting down Borough High Street, he wasn’t about to let a silly terror attack ruin his night.
This unlikely hero has now become an iconic figure to those who have seen the footage. The man with the beer is viewed to be the epitome of British humour and defiance.
Although the attack at the London Bridge was no joke, resulting in seven deaths and 48 injuries, the eminent man with the beer can be seen leisurely strolling down the street with a friend, wearing a red shirt.

Londoners take great pride in being resilient, especially in times of adversity. Therefore, it’s no surprise that this man’s undisturbed demeanour gave Londoners the laugh they needed to, as they say, “keep calm and carry on” in this tragic event.
So cheers to the beer man! He will forever be our spirit animal.
