The town of Kawazu in Japan is already experiencing cherry blossoms – some two months before blooming season.
Although the region’s sakura trees, called Kawazu-zakura, prematurely blossom annually, a warm winter has led to the town’s earliest bloom in 15 years. According to officials, the pink flowers appeared last February 15 and will be viewable until the start of March.
The town has some 8,000 sakura trees lining the Kawazu-gawa river, making for some incredible fairy tale-esque scenes. It’s not hard to see why about one million visitors are expected to come to Kawazu’s 27th annual festivities.
