Pilot escorted off her plane after grabbing pager and ranting pre-flight about Trump and her recent divorce

Hearing a pilot lose it just isn’t exactly the kind of thing you want to hear just before your plane is due to take off, but that’s exactly what happened on a United Airlines flight this past weekend.

The pilot in question was removed from the flight after arriving at the cockpit wearing street clothes instead of her flight uniform.

She then proceeded to apologise for being late, citing her ongoing divorce as the reason for her tardiness, before launching into a bizarre rant which ranged from American politics to the gender of her co-pilot.

“Look, I don’t care if you voted for Trump or Clinton, they’re both assholes,” the pilot reportedly said.

After seeing the nerves of the passengers, the pilot tried to ease their fears. It didn’t work.

“So I’ll stop, and we’ll fly the plane,” she says. “Don’t worry. I’m going to let my co-pilot fly it. He’s a man.

“OK, if you don’t feel safe get off the plane, but otherwise we can go.”

Randy Reiss, who was on board the flight and posted about the incident on Twitter, was one of around 20 passengers who aksed to be let off the plane before the pilot was escorted off the plane and a new flight crew was rushed on to replace her.

“She was clearly going through something, but she shouldn’t do it while flying my plane,” Reiss told BuzzFeed.

“She apologised, I hugged her, and I told her, ‘You’re going to be fine.’

“She was just in a bad place emotionally and should not have been flying.”

The flight ended up getting to its destination of San Francisco safely, while the passengers were provided with a free meal voucher due to the incident.
