Do you have an old vinyl collection, but can’t afford turntables? Then check out this new technology, which allows to play your records without using a turntable.
It’s called RokBlok, and with only a few days to go in its Kickstarter campaign, its already gone way past full funding. Which means it should be happening for sure.
The basic idea is this: instead of using a turntable that just sits there while the record spins, how about letting the record do the sitting, and have the RokBlok do the moving instead? It’s easier to explain if you see it in action. It looks like this:
Now, clearly this isn’t going to be for everyone. For example, it’s hard to see how this could work for any of you DJs out there who are into scratching. But for those of us on a tighter budget, RokBlok might just be the answer. Not to mention: it’s a lot more portable than a turntable!
The first shipment of these is supposed to go out in September of 2017. So keep your eyes open for these things next Christmas. In the meantime, you’ll just have to wait, and maybe cancel the order you just put in for a new turntable.
Oh, and by the way, for those of you out there wondering about the sound quality of these things: the RokBlok has full bluetooth connectivity to whatever speaker setup you might want to use! So head on over to Kickstarter and give them a few bucks if you want in on the first round of orders.
