Court photographer captured the moment these foster kids found out they’d found a family

I’m not crying, you’re crying! It’s not all bad news over in the US. Heather Nelson was just told by the judge that she was about to officially have two new additions to her family.

She and her husband had fostered the kids since December 2013, but last month they were formally declared to be a family.

While she was obviously thrilled, it’s the reactions of her two new children that are going viral.

She posted the incredible snaps to the Love What Matters Facebook page and they’ll make your eyes a little bit misty.

Here is Heather’s moving and powerful statement in full:

“As foster parents our lives are dissected and put on public display for all to see. We often hear phrases such as ‘I could never do that’ or ‘I would never let those kids in my home’ or ‘I can’t deal with the broken system.’

My reply is this: Look at the pure joy on these kids faces when they are hearing their new adoptive name being declared in the court room. They came to live with us on Dec 10th, 2013 and as of Oct 19th, 2016 they are no longer foster children.

They are known and loved by their birth family and they are a part of our forever family. They will never have to choose between families. The joy and love reflected in these pictures are all I need to know: every tear, every sleepless night, and every day that the system seemed hopeless was worth it.”
