In honour of late music legend Prince, an Australian artist created a ‘Purple Rain’ mural in the Sydney suburb of Liverpool on Sunday.
Created by local artist Graham Hoete (aka Mr G), the artwork took six hours to complete and features a black-and-white portrait of Prince set against a purple background.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Hoete said it’s his way of saying goodbye to a childhood icon.
“I asked myself how I could use my art to pay my respects,” he said. “After working full-time as an artist for the last ten years, I’ve learned the power of art to help the grieving process.”
The mural has received praise from fans worldwide, and Hoete is now planning to paint a five-storey version in Prince’s hometown of Chanhassen, Minnesota.
