In a dream-shattering revelation, it has been discovered that buying a house in the western Sydney suburb of Mt Druitt is now more expensive than buying one in New York City.
It doesn’t end there though. The median price of a house in Mt Druitt is also more expensive than those located in Paris, Tokyo, Boston and Greater London.
In terms of amenities, it seems our northern neighbours are getting a lot more bang for their buck.
To put it in perspective, a house in one of Sydney’s most outlying suburbs will cost you a mean $AUD622,000, while NYC’s going price is $AUD535,974. Unless you are some type of heir or heiress, you shouldn’t even consider central Sydney’s median house price (which is above one million bucks). In fact, an uninhabitable, deceased estate in Surry Hills sold for the ‘cheap’ price of $1.1 million in February this year.
