Maggie the Australian shepherd has had a bit of a hard run of late. She had her puppies taken away from her two weeks ago, and was then put up for adoption. But when she was adopted, Maggie’s new family boarded her at Barker’s Pet Motel in Alberta for the night, and she escaped!
But Maggie didn’t run away from the kennel. Instead, this loving dog went to the aid of a litter of puppies that had lost their mother and were crying through the night.
‘We watched her on the cameras and she went straight around and she found their room’, pet motel owner Sandra Aldred told CBC. ‘She paid them a lot of attention and you could see her little tail wagging. And she’d do the little bow down to them and poke them through the chainlink gate of their room. She just decided that was where she was going to stay until we came to get her.
‘They were just all so happy to be together. The puppies needed her and she needed them. It was pretty perfect’.
