You don’t normally associate cruising with skydiving. But this has changed with Royal Caribbean’s most revolutionary ship, the Anthem of the Seas. Stretching 348m long and accommodating 5,000 travellers and around 3,000 staff, this ship is an adventurer’s dream. There’s a rock climbing wall, indoor bumper cars and — wait for it — skydiving simulation experiences.
For the first time ever, passengers onboard Anthem of the Seas can feel what it’s like to fly as they float on air, courtesy of RipCord by iFly.
You’ll be kitted up in the usual attire as if you’re going on a real skydiving adventure, except on this experience you’ll be placed inside a 2.5m-diameter wind tunnel that propels you up to 23 feet into the sky. At that height, you could see all over the ship and into the horizon — there’s really no better view than that! For us beginners, it was a more sedate affair but as you’ll see from the video below, I did manage to get about 15 feet into the air. And it was such a fun experience!
But the best part about this unique skydiving simulation experience? It’s totally complimentary with your Anthem of the Seas cruise.
Time to pack those bags? Yup! It’s sister ship, the US$1 billion Ovation of the Seas, is being built right now and is coming to Australia in December this year.
