Astronaut helps us appreciate just how wild our planet is with his Instagram pics

NASA’s A Year In Space mission sees NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko spending 12 months aboard the International Space Station together to ‘test the limits of human research, space exploration and the human spirit’.

While some might think living on the ISS can be isolating and downright dull at times, Scott Kelly is proving there’s no better view than from outer space. During his free time, this astronaut has started posting images of Earth to his Instagram account and they’re nothing short of incredible.

Scott Kelly was recently interviewed by Katie Couric and Larry King, and said that his day-to-day life differs, depending on what’s going on.

‘All the days are different, which makes it pretty interesting’, Kelly says. ‘Some days are entirely dedicated to science experiments. Sometimes you’re fixing things. The carbon-dioxide removal system was a piece of hardware we had worked on a few months ago that was pretty extensive.

‘On Monday, we have a Japanese cargo ship coming, so we’ll be grabbing that. So it’s a combination of science, maintenance and general housekeeping. And then occasionally robotics activities or a spacewalk you might get to do’.

Sounds super interesting to me! Follow Scott Kelly on Instagram here.
