Those are a lot of mouths – or should I say, beaks – to feed. In Chennai, India, a man adopted a couple of parakeets after the two were displaced by a tragic tsunami. Ten years later, his green feathered family has gotten bigger. How big exactly? Oh, just about 4,000 members.
The 62-year-old camera repairman who goes by the name Sekar found the two green parakeets in his back porch a decade ago and decided to take them in. He fed them rice, and soon enough, the couple nested and started a family.
Today, thousands of birds can be seen hanging around Sekar’s home, waiting for their daily meal of rice. The kind-hearted man – who is fondly called ‘birdman’ by the locals – spends 40% of his income to buy their food and wakes up around 4:30am to start cooking. He then goes up to the roof and serves the rice on wooden planks.
It’s an amazing sight resulting from the good deeds of one guy!
