Tricked-out tricycles project art onto the streets of Rio de Janeiro

Artists Ygor Marotta and Ceci Soloaga took two tricycles, souped them up with laptops, batteries, speakers, and projectors, named these tricycles ‘Suaveciclos’, then cycled their way around Rio de Janeiro to give the public an audiovisual feast.

The tricycles are able to project animations onto walls and other flat surfaces anywhere in the city, bringing colour and vibrancy to otherwise ordinary neighbourhoods.

Marotta and Soloaga are even able to change the videos in real-time so that their animations are tailored to different environments throughout the city.

While the duo have cycled throughout Russia, Germany and Switzerland during the past year, they’re hoping to take their Suaveciclos project even further. Fingers crossed they make it to your city!
