If you want an authentic American roadtrip experience, you’ll need to get yourself to Walcott, Iowa, and spend some time (or the entire night) at Iowa 80, the world’s largest truckstop. While a truckstop doesn’t sound like a lot of fun, this one is pretty much its own miniature city, with restaurants, convenience stores, a movie theatre, laundromat, barber shop, dentist, and chiropractor all within the megaplex.
Currently the truckstop – sitting on 220 acres of land – serves more than 5,000 customers each day and has parking for 900 trucks.
If you can’t bear parting ways with Iowa 80, the complex also provides private shower and toilet rooms, a game room, and a lounge with leather chairs and a fire place. Seriously, it’s the most classy truckstop you’ve ever been to.
While most truckstops offer the bare necessities, this one is like a home away from home for truckers and roadtrippers everywhere.
