Most wolf sanctuaries only allow you to interact with wolves from behind a fence. At Norway’s Polar Park, visitors can get up close with these majestic animals and spend the night in their enclosure in something the wildlife centre calls a ‘Howl Night’.
Howl Nights allow visitors to camp in the wolves’ enclosure, and once that moon rises into the evening sky, you’re expected to join in with your new pack and howl the night away. The wolves at Polar Park have grown accustomed to human interaction so you can throw those fears out the window to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Polar Park staff recommend embarking on a Howl Night during the winter ‘when the moon lights up the snow’ and you have a better opportunity of seeing the Northern Lights.
Wolves? Northern Lights? Sounds like a vacation to add to that bucket list.
