You’re not off the grid yet but you want to live as simply as possible, and what’s more simple than a picnic? Madrid-based architecture and design studio AtelierTERATOMA researched the history of picnics and have given the traditional setup a 21st century transformation.
The designers believe that the natural setting for a picnic these days ‘should be the epicenter of the city: the square’, so they’ve made their picnic prototype into a backpack that comes with a solar panel ‘to make it self sufficient, speakers to improvise a party, a screen to receive messages via bluetooth and maintain contain with other users, lights to generate ‘editable experiences’ and USB hubs to charge mobile devices.
Who wouldn’t want a high-tech picnic backpack to call their own? I’m calling dibs on their first one if it ever makes it to the stores.
