Guy colour codes his Instagram by matching photos with the Pantone swatch book

Melbourne-based artist and photographer Matthew Deutscher is quickly becoming famous for the way he organizes his photos on Instagram: by colour, or specifically by working his way through the PANTONE Color Bridge.

Initially, his Instagram feed consisted only of black and white photos, but after seeing one landscape photographer’s work on the ever-changing four seasons, he thought it would be cool to show the transition between colours. Going on regular photography walks, Deutscher captures people, food, nature, and whatever catches his eye – not to mention, matches the current colour.

The project has also allowed the artist to connect with like-minded Instagrammers and creatives. He even collaborates with them to organize his next set of photos. ‘Around 40 per cent will be collaborations with other people where I am giving them a Pantone and a brief and letting them use the colour to inspire a portrait’.
