They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but if the cover looks anything like the ones designed by Latvian artist Aniko Koleshnikova, you’re bound to be a little judgey. After all, how could you stop yourself from wanting to read what’s inside after gazing at these whimsical designs?

Koleshnikova goes by the design name Mandarin Duck and has been creating these elaborate book covers since 2009. She specializes in dragon, bird, fantasy, and nature-inspired polymer journals.
