What our sunsets would look like if the sun was replaced with other stars

There are hundreds of billions of stars in our galaxy alone – have you ever wondered what our sunsets would look like if we replaced the sun with a different star? Some would not be as romantic as you’d think.

Graphic designer Martin Vargic’s series of visualizations helps us explore this question. Each photo imagines a different star in place of our sun, showing the difference in size, brightness, and temperature between the celestial bodies. So while stars like Gliese 581 would leave us with barely any sunlight, others would give us too much and set us ablaze. I’m talking about you, Aldebaran.

Though Vargic admits the images are not completely accurate in their depiction, the series still inspires the imaginations of people and makes us realize how perfect our sun is for us. Aww.
