13 tons of candy were laid on this Chinese street for a very sweet and worthy cause

Welcome to the world’s sweetest street. At 607 feet long and 23 feet wide, Chengdu Street in Sichuan province of Southern China has been covered with 13 tons of candy, and it’s all for a good cause. In celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 19, 2000, volunteers took to this street and placed each piece of candy by hand onto the 14,000-square-foot candy carpet designed by graphic artists Craig Redman and Karl Maier.

Called ‘Sweet As One’, they hope to bring awareness to the plight of underprivileged children in rural areas, with sponsors donating 15,000 meals and individually wrapped candy to those staying around Chengdu. How sweet is that?
