Meet Esther the Wonder Pig. When she was adopted by parents Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter, she only weighed 3-lb and was supposedly a pygmy piglet. Lo and behold two years later, she now weighs 670-lb. Turns out, she’s a full-size commercial pig! This, however, didn’t change the love Esther’s two dads had for her.
Instead of sending her to a farm, or worse, a slaughter house *gasp* the two dads kept her along with their other pets. They also turned vegan after they realized they couldn’t stomach the idea of eating other smart and lovable pigs. Recently, they were successful in raising $440,425 on Indiegogo for the animal sanctuary they’re planning to put up.
‘We couldn’t handle the thought of the life Esther was born for, and it has become our mission to provide a home for as many of her relatives as we possibly can; and to educate as many people as we possibly can that these animals are loving, intelligent, and sensitive animals. Not just a product or a piece of pork’.
