Explore Paris like never before, on the back of a soaring eagle!

Forget guided tours. See Paris like you’ve never seen before, on the back of a soaring eagle! Yes, just like Gandalf. In the video below, Victor the white-tailed eagle takes off from the Eiffel Tower’s observation deck with a camera strapped to his back. The next minute of footage shows us the gorgeous aerial views of Paris, as well as how majestic it must be to fly like an eagle.

In the end, Victor glides over the Trocadero before diving to the ground at speeds of up to 180km/h to land on his handler’s arm.

FREEDOM, a conservation initiative, created the video to draw attention to the white-tailed eagles’ plight. For the past 50 years, the white-tailed eagle has been extinct from France. FREEDOM hopes to re-introduce them to the Swiss and French Alps. You can find out more about their project here.
