If you’re visiting the Robert Fontaine Gallery in Miami, you wouldn’t want to miss a new exhibition titled Metros. Created by furniture-maker-turned-sculptor James McNabb, who is known for his interest in architectural shapes, his style of woodwork is a self improvised one that is being described as sketching with a bandsaw. Intricate sculptures the likes of wheels and tables are produced from the creation of urban landscapes in various repurposed and exotic woods.
McNabb describes his work as thus, ‘I compare my style of rapid bandsaw mark making to the fast paced nature of spray can art. It’s my attempt at urban woodworking’.
