Artist creates an IKEA-style instruction manual on how to create your own monsters

Your dream of becoming a mad scientist is now one step closer, thanks to illustrator Ed Harrington’s IKEA-style instruction manuals on how to make movie monsters. Inspired by the wordless, line-drawn instruction manuals of the Swedish furniture company, Harrington illustrates the origins – and assembly process – of well-known bad guys like Alien, Jason Voorhees, and Cenobites.

Some characters are easy to assemble, like The Human Centipede. All you need is: 1x scalpel, 1x stapler, 1x needle and thread, 1x scissors, 1x hammer, 1x wrench, and 3x unsuspecting IKEA men. Others like the Brundlefly will take a bit more effort, seeing as you’ll need to find two Cronenbergian teleportation pods, which is pretty hard to find around these parts.

You can see more of Ed Harrington’s illustrations over on Tumblr.
