So, after turning up our noses at Dogfish Head’s latest strange beer (read on), we looked around and found even more inexplicable beer brews from everywhere. Here are 7 of them.
#1: Wasabi beer Dogfish Head’s recent ale invention is dubbed the Rosabi. Might go well with sushi, we think.
#2: Bull testicles beer When Denver’s Wynkoop Brewing Company ran an April Fools’ joke in 2013 about a new beer they’d made with bull balls and all, they didn’t realize how much it would resonate with people. So they made a stout using roasted bull testicles for real, which, of course, rightfully are sold in pairs as two-pack cans.
#3: Goat brains beer A couple of months back, Philadelphia’s Dock Street Brewing Co decided to pay homage to popular zombie TV series The Walking Dead with the affectionately-named Walker, an American pale stout with smoked goat braaaaaains.
#4: Taxidermied beer In 2010, Brewdog released the limited-edition The End of History, a Belgian blond ale which you had to drink out of from a taxidermied body of a squirrel or weasel. Only 12 bottles were made and sold. We love the audacity.
#5: Beard beer It gets better, doesn’t it? From Rogue comes Beard Beer, which has its secret ingredient in the form of a yeast found in the beard of Rogue’s brewmaster, John Maier. Wow.
#6: Space beer If you’re the type who’d love to partake a bit of outer space in your diet, you’d love Sapporo’s Space Barley from 2009 that was brewed using barley from the International Space Station
#7: Elephant crap beer All right, so coffee beans are fed to elephants, and the whole beans that are pooped out are used to make Sankt Gallen’s coffee stout. Though it looks like it could have been an April’s Fool joke.
#8: Coconut curry beer As the name of New Belgium Brewing Company’s Coconut Curry Hefeweizen goes, this beer tastes of coconut and curry, as well as a huge list of spices including cinnamon, coriander, fenugreek, ginger, kaffir lime and cayenne pepper.
